Typical situations where the form needs to consist of more than one page are:
- the form contains a very large number of fields or sections
- the set of fields to be completed depends on the respondent's previous answers (i.e. a branching form)
- both of the above
A summary of settings for each of the above situations is provided below.
Forms with a very large number of fields - a summary
- An umbrella folder to contain all parts of the form. Its default view set to the first page/form folder.
- One form folder for each 'page' of the form.
- Exclude all but first form folder from the navigation.
- Set up all but last form folder in a similar manner.
- Add form fields to each form folder as required.
- Add hidden replica fields from each preceding page to the next.
- Set the next page to which each page leads to after it is 'submitted', via the Custom Success Action override feature.
- Configure the form output using the last form folder.
Branching forms - a summary
- An umbrella folder to contain all parts of the form. Its default view set to the first page/form folder.
- If necessary, sub-umbrella folders each containing a major branch of pages.
- Set up the required form folders and add their form fields.
- Configure the brancing connections via a Selection Field object and the Custom Success Action override feature.
- Configure the form output for each branch.
Large branching forms - a summary
This will simply be a combination of the above settings according to the particular requirements of the form.
